In this talk, Dr. Lawrence Feingold will walk through the images of Christ in the visual arts. Every work of art transmits a vision of the world. Christian art is no exception. However, the Christian artist is faced with an immensely difficult task: to transmit visually the creed in the Incarnation and Passion of the Word of God. Could art dare to represent this most exalted mystery? Or, should representations of Christian doctrine be banned because of the danger of idolatry and the impossibility of adequately representing the divine in visual form?

In this talk, Dr. Lawrence Feingold will focus on the art of music and its ability to influence the soul for better or worse, stirring it to noble or base passions. He will begin by looking at the fundamental qualities of the fine arts in general, and then focus on music in particular. Finally, he will apply these considerations to sacred music. Does it matter what kind of music we use in the sacred liturgy, and why?

In this talk, Dr. Lawrence Feingold will focus on the reality of Hell. In order to understand Christian hope, we cannot be silent about what we hope to be saved from: Hell, which is eternal banishment from God. Knowledge of the reality of Hell should strengthen and focus Christian hope. If there were no possibility of loss, we would not hope for Heaven through God’s extraordinary aid, but simply take it for granted.

Sunday Dec 01, 2024

In this talk, Dr. Lawrence Feingold will focus on the various challenges of modern atheism and the argument for God's existence from nature's order.
