Friday Jun 20, 2025
In this talk, Dr. Lawrence Feingold will discuss Christ's claim to Divinity.
No one in history ever made this claim, and the claim is simply “the most shocking thing that has ever been uttered by human lips,” in the words of C.S. Lewis. As the crowds in Jerusalem said (Jn 7:46): “No man ever spoke like this man.” This leads every man who thinks about it to a dilemma, or a trilemma: a choice between three or four alternatives. Either Christ was what he said he was, or mad, or he was something worse than a liar, or the story was a myth made up by other men deluded or worse than liars.

In this talk, Dr. Lawrence Feingold will discuss the purpose of the Incarnation and Christ's descent into Hell.
When Christ died on the cross, His human soul separated from His body. What happened to the soul of Christ as the Body lay in the tomb? The Tradition answers that He “descended to hell.” What is meant by this?
